In the continuation of my posting responses to the question of why so many Americans do not use all of their vacation days, as brought up in my interview with NBC Nightly News, the next replies deal with the inability to get away. The feedback of many regarding the issue of vacation deprivation is that there is just no right time to take days off. Something is always going on. People end up being so stressed and pulled in so many different directions that they move faster and faster while accomplishing less and less. Good time management training can provide some help here, with solutions that increase daily productivity.Do any of the following comments sound familiar to you? If you are in management, could these reflect the feelings of some of your staff? It is time to recognize the dilemma and also the resulting stress and decreased productivity that come with the requirement, or need, to work non-stop.
- I keep waiting for the perfect time to take a chunk of time off, and then one thing leads to the other and I only end up taking a day here, a day there.
- In my 30 plus years of employment, I have never experienced such demands always being placed on my personal time. And I wonder why I’m always feeling so tired and stressed.
