At Thanksgiving we remember those who care about us and how they’ve shown us they care. It’s a time to look back. We spend 364 days a year looking ahead to future success; but that doesn’t mean we should forget what got us this far: those in our support system who’ve been there for us with some important bit of help–maybe even just a kind word–when we needed it the most.
The fact is, everyone who helps us is investing in our success. They’ve taken five minutes to look up a phone number we lost or spent a few minutes picking up something while running errands. There were many other things they had planned to do with their time; something on their own to-do list, which they put off so they could help us instead.
Given all that support, doesn’t it seem ungrateful to fritter away the combined hours they’ve invested in our success by doing something unproductive? We could, after all, be spending our time on maintaining our time management worksheets or fine tuning the key organization systems we’re working on. Wouldn’t those friends prefer to see us prioritizing tasks or following up on the electronic file management tips we just learned, rather than desperately seeking a client’s address that we know is “in there somewhere”?
Why not make your success, and that of your great organization, an expression of gratitude for your support team?
Thanksgiving is too important a feeling for us to use just once a year. Set your goals and start getting organized today and dedicate your organizational successes to those who’ve helped you save time all week.
