I'm currently reading Brain Rules by John Medina and he clearly explains that the brain cannot focus on two things at once. Multi-tasking attempts prove to be time consuming and reduce the quality of the output. Your suggestions are right in line with the research. Don't stop making people aware of the fallacies that are impacting their performance!

An excellent post! I couldn't have said it better myself. I've been seeing a rash of marketing emails lately that are always followed by a second one with "oops" in the subject line. I'm not sure if this is an intentional way to bring attention to the first email and get the second opened or if they just are truly incompetent and don't know how to write an email. Either way, it doesn't look very professional and, at least in my inbox, gets both emails trashed unopened.

Thanks so much for another informative article here. Each one of the situations you explained really do deal with self-discipline. We think it is all about tough hard work, but really its all about focus.

I must say you presented this very well. When we get focused, we find that we are less likely to procrastinate. I have found this to be especially true for entrepreneurs. The risk of launching a business or project requires focus and self-discipine. This article could be very beneficial to many entrepreneurs.

Yes, we call the inability to focus "the microwave mentality"...we only have a few seconds to spare. I love what you have created here on the subject of productivity. It's funny how many people do multitask while surfing the net.

However, I wonder what this does to one's creativity. Since creativity and productivity are twin sisters for sure, I often wonder does all this multitasking while surfing affect our ability to be creative and focus.

Again, wonderful site you have created here. Very positive and very informative.

I know that my waistline has certainly increased over the last 17 months since I lost my job. And the first 9 months of my unemployment were particularly stressful due to so much uncertainty.

I have, however, found this article particularly reassuring that my recent rededication to my health is absolutely on the right track to reducing my waistline and increasing my focus!

Thanks for sharing your insights Denise! We were honored to have you test our product, and are very glad the product was useful for you.

Great point re: batching/grouping of activities - that is something I've tried to become more and more conscious of. Ironically the wake up call for me was the 1st time I reviewed Chrometa's timeline of my actions...I realized I never stayed on any task for longer than a minute or two!

Grouping tasks has helped a great deal in getting more done, and feeling less stressed. So I would definitely recommend your great time management training to anyone who is also feeling stressed and not as productive as they should be!
